ISO 45001 Revision CheckerThe 40 requirements today, and the draft that replaces them

Plain answer

Do I need to transition my ISO 45001 certificate?

Not yet. A certificate issued today is against ISO 45001:2018 and remains valid to its expiry. The transition starts when the new edition is published and the accreditation arrangements take effect; then a certificate against the old edition has a limited window.

Today

The standard in force is ISO 45001:2018, including Amendment 1:2024. A certification body issues against that edition. The DIS does not change the certificate, and an auditor cannot audit you against a draft.

When publication comes

Publication is expected in 2027. The usual pattern for a revised management system standard is a transition period, commonly three years, set by the accreditation arrangements. No IAF transition document for this revision was found on 18 October 2026, so treat the three years as an assumption.

Your next audit

If your certificate expires before the planning date, recertify to the 2018 edition. If it runs past the planning date, plan the transition at the next recertification or surveillance after publication. An integrated audit with ISO 9001 or ISO 14001 can carry the transition at the same visit.

What to do now

Do not rebuild around a draft. Fix the gaps that will matter under either edition, put the clause references that will move on a list, and decide who owns the transition. The free check returns the dates for your certificate; the kit turns them into a plan.
