Plain answer
What changes in the ISO 45001 revision?
The public record shows a moderate revision: new clauses for planning of changes, occupational health and return to work, a consolidated external provider clause, expanded hazard identification for psychosocial, remote, platform, occupational health and climate hazards, and a stronger emphasis on well-being and worker diversity.
Structure
The draft adopts the harmonized structure. A new 6.3 Planning of changes appears, management of change moves to 8.1.5, a new 8.1.3 Occupational health and a new 8.1.4 Return to work appear, and the procurement subclauses are consolidated into 8.1.6 Externally provided processes, products and services. Continual improvement is consolidated into 10.1.
Hazard identification
The public summaries report an expanded list of factors: new and changing technologies, digital platform-based activities, remote workers, psychosocial hazards, occupational health hazards and climate change impacts. The assessment of risks and opportunities is folded into 6.1.2, and the assessment results must be documented as well as the method.
Well-being and diversity
Work-related well-being is reported across the scope, definitions, leadership, policy, consultation, opportunities and operational planning. Worker diversity is reported in needs and expectations, controls and emergency planning, including personal evacuation plans for people with disabilities.
What is not yet known
The exact wording, the final clause titles, the transition arrangements and the publication date can all change. The summaries say so, and the list of main changes in the DIS foreword is not yet filled in. This site does not present a summary as the text.
