Plain answer
What is ISO/DIS 45001?
ISO/DIS 45001 is the Draft International Standard for the second edition of ISO 45001, the occupational health and safety management system standard. It is a draft, not a published standard, and no certificate can be issued against it.
The designation
ISO/DIS 45001 is the draft international standard stage of the second edition. ISO records the document at 48 pages, Edition 2, prepared by ISO/TC 283 with BSI as the secretariat. The DIS ballot opened on 16 June 2026 and closed on 8 September 2026; ISO records the close of voting as 9 September 2026 at stage 40.60.
What DIS means
DIS stands for Draft International Standard. It is the stage at which national member bodies vote and comment on a draft that is close to its final shape. If the vote is positive, the draft can move to FDIS, the final draft, and then to publication. If it is not, the committee can revise it and run another ballot. A DIS is not a standard and cannot be certified against.
What it replaces
The public record says the second edition cancels and replaces ISO 45001:2018, including Amendment 1:2024. The foreword in the public sample says the first edition is technically revised, but its list of main changes is not yet filled in. That is why this site separates the requirement that applies today from the draft treatment.
What is public
The ISO page, the stage record, the cover, the contents and the foreword are public. The requirement text is not: ISO sells the draft, and the site does not reproduce it. The clause titles and the shape of the revision can be read from the public contents; the substance is described only from named summaries.
